Carlos Slim Credits Books by Tofflers
as Keys to His Phenomenal Success
Carlos Slim says the best-selling books of futurists Alvin and Heidi Toffler--from "Future Shock" in 1970 to their latest, "Revolutionary Wealth"--have played critical roles in helping him anticipate and identify business opportunities throughout the world.
According to Slim, as reported by the Wall Street Journal in its August 5, 2007, edition, "his success comes from spotting opportunity early, something he learned in part from reading futurist writer Alvin Toffler...."
The Journal noted that, during his interview, Slim pulled out a marked up copy of "Revolutionary Wealth," -- first published in 2006 and now available in nearly two dozen languages -- filled with Slim's notes in the margins.
According to Fortune magazine, Slim has now surpassed Microsoft founder Bill Gates as the world's richest man, with personal wealth valued at $59 billion.
